Match result updates

With the end of season rapidly approaching the games are coming thick and fast with all teams in action recently.

Following on from a points victory over Vale Vixens the Wildcats met the Queen Bees in their derby match. The first set was rather one sided (25:12) despite the Queen Bees showing some promise. The second set was a totally different affair with Queen Bees going into an early lead and holding that advantage to level the match 1:1 (25-17). Wildcats needed to regroup and started the third set well with some string attacks and serving but Queen Bees weren’t about to give up easily and dragged themselves back into the set with some determined defensive play. Unfortunately it wasn’t quite enough and Wildcats took the set (25-9) and a 2:1 lead. The fourth set saw some excellent rallies showcasing the strength in depth that we have at the club but Wildcats proved to have too much closing out the set (25:11) and taking the match 3:1.

The Falcons travelled to second placed Kings Langley Knights in search of the victory that would all but guarantee the Division 2 title. The home side started well as Falcons took a while to get going. Having played well to get themselves back in the set things slipped away towards the business end and Knights took the first set 25-23. With the pressure on to make an impact on the game the players stepped it up making short work of the second set 25-14. The Knights weren’t about to roll over and just like the first set took and early lead. Falcons got back into the set after a poor start but at 23-17 looked to have left it too late. After a quick timeout they raised their game to win the 8 points and the set 25-23! That turn around knocked the stuffing out of the opposition and Falcons finished off the match taking the fourth set 25-12.
