WHVC hosted the 2018-19 Cup finals last weekend and although the Hawks narrowly missed out on a finals place the club was represented by its Junior section.

The opponents on the day were VK Southgate, with WHVC providing 2 teams for the 6-a-side competition. The team included a number of players who had only been attending for a few weeks but it was great to see just how far the Juniors have come over the last year (see gallery for more photos).

Welwyn A won their first match against VK with some excellent serving from Jack and all-round game play, keeping the ball alive and fighting for every point. Welwyn B faced VK in the next match and although it was a closely contested match, VK just had enough to get them over the line. Both Welwyn teams faced off in the third match and Welwyn A’s established an early lead. But with Welwyn B looking like they were out of it, a few points brought them back to life and they turned round a 7 point deficit to draw level. It wasn’t to be though as some great defence saw Welwyn A take the win and the overall title, HVA Juniors Champions 2018-19!
