HAWKS WIN DIVISION 2 LEAGUE TITLE

The Hawks men’s team have won the HVA Division 2 title for 2017-18.

Last night saw them take on Red Eagles having already clinched the title the week before following and impressive 3-1 win over Kings Langley Knights. A win would mean the team would go the entire season without losing a match.

Things started off well with Hawks taking the first set comfortably, Red Eagles having no answer for the strong attacking and blocking from the home team.

The second set saw Hawks build a strong lead towards the end of the set but allowed Red Eagles back into it with an uncharacteristic run of receive errors. The opposition gained in confidence and took the set 26-24.

Hawks returned to their starting line up, keen to regain the dominance of the first set but didn’t have it all their own way as both teams upped their game in what proved to be a decisive third set. With the lead changing hands on more than one occasion, Hawks did enough to take the set and looked confident for the win.

The fourth set was similar to the third but errors began to creep into the opponents game and Hawks range of attacking options proved too strong in the end. Hawks win 3-1 and go unbeaten for the whole season!

They will receive their trophy and medals at the HVA Finals day at Rudolph Steiner School on Sunday 20th May.
