*Minutes from WHVC AGM, 1st June 2009*
Minutes of previous meeting were accepted
Apologies received from Steve Davies and Lynne Howitt
**
*Treasurer's Report* - Any outstanding monies were noted. Approx £1000 in
the account after all fees. It was agreed that the present fee structure
would remain and funds would be spent on new match balls for next year and a
ball 'cage' for use during drills.
*Captains' Reports* - All captains reported a difficulty when trying
to captain and coach at the same time. Bob (Wasps) reported a detailed
analysis of the year with the team ending in 3rd place in the
league. Guy (Hornets) presented a briefer yet entertaining report with the
team finishing in 6th place in the league. Lynne (Honies) in her absence
sent a report and the team came 7th (or last).... Ahhh.
*Fixtures Sec Report* - Fiona was thanked for her hard work and agreed that
we would try to avoid the bunching of fixtures at the end of the season next
year.
*Coaches Report* - Steve sent a written report due to his absence
(attached). *A big thank you to Steve for all his hard work this year*
*Tournaments Sec Report* - Vernon gave us the dates of all upcoming
tournaments. Dates as follows:
Brentford Vetvo - 20th June
Ashcombe - 27/28th June
Cambridge - Canx due to lack of venue
Harriers - 5th July
Gloucester - 8/9th Aug
Brighton - 15/16th Aug
Richmond - Aug bank hol weekend
Norwich - Once a month from the beginning of nex season
*Webmaster's Report* - Bob presented a written report.
*Changes/Improvements*
Officiating duties - It was agreed that each member of the club should
officiate (ref or score) a minimum of 2 times per season. These
responsibilities will be allocated by Fiona at the start of the season and
it is up to the member listed to find suitable alternatives if they are
unable to attend their given matches. The previous financial incentive for
officiating matches will therefore no longer apply. Reffing and scoring
practice for any member unsure of procedures will be provided during
training sessions next season.
3 HVA meetings during the season also need to be attended. It was agreed
that a representative from our club will be allocated for each meeting at
the start of the season as well but only committee members will be required
to attend these.
Game situation drills are to be practiced next year as well as pure match
practice in order to avoid the slightly chaotic end of session match play we
experienced this year. Any sessions designated as match practice sessions
for particular teams are to be scheduled in advance and we need to ensure
all teams have equal numbers of dedicated sessions.
The prospect of entering only 1 mens team due to low attendance during the
2nd half of the season was ruled out. Whether to enter 2 similar strength
teams or a stronger/weaker team will be considered at the start of the
season once we know who is interested in playing. We agreed to enter 1 mens
and 1 ladies team into the cup next season.
Name changes - Honies will now be called Welwyn. Wasps will also be Welwyn.
Hornets will be Hatfield.
As a club it was decided we would oppose the HVA proposed rule changes
regarding matching kit requirements and Div 2 players not being allowed to
guest in Div 1.
Training times will extend til 10pm for the 1st 6 weeks of the season.
Olympic Games! If you are interested in registering as a volleyball 2012
volunteer you should look at the Volleyball England website. We decided not
to enter a team for this event.
