Wolves claim victory over the Armadillos in 5-set thriller

With the indoor season almost over the club’s 2 Men’s teams came head to head for what proved to be another epic encounter. The Armadillos had bragging rights from the first match whilst the Wolves were looking to all but secure the Division 2 title with a win so it was all to play for.

The Armadillos had been forced into some late changes but if anything it made them stronger on paper. However, the Wolves started the first set well and pulled away towards the end to take the first set by 9 points. After some personnel changes for the Wolves, the second set saw the Armadillos go on a scoring run and soon they had established a sizeable lead which they maintained to take the second set. Resorting to their starting line up, the Wolves stepped up again to take the third set by 7 points. The 4th set was much closer with both sides taking the lead before losing it again but the Armadillos did just enough to take it to a 5th and deciding set. It was point for point with some top class volleyball being played by both sides. Armadillos looked to have made the decisive break and had 2 match points with the score at 14-12 but the Wolves never gave up and brought it back to 14-14! With fatigue becoming a factor the Wolves finished it in style with 2 good attacks and took the victory 3-2.

Well done to all those involved in the match and as always the officials for their time.
